Introduction

Aliant Mobility offers cellular and digital PCS services across the Maritime provinces, including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Newfoundland, and Labrador. Being a local service provider, their coverage areas are generally better than the footprints offered by either Rogers or Telus Mobility (both Telus and Bell phones roam on Aliant's network outside their footprints). Coverage areas may be important to you if you frequently travel to remote locations and require the use of a cell phone.

Plans

The least expensive plan offered by Aliant runs between $18-$25/month, including 80 daytime minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends. All plans include 3-way calling, call forwarding, and call waiting. Unlimited evenings run from 8pm to 6am.

Aliant varies their plans slightly between provinces, so the same Imove 80 plan costs $18 in Nova Scotia, $20 in New Brunswick, and $25 in both Newfoundland and P.E.I. There are also several other plans available -- see their website for more details. All phones come with a 30 day return policy, less any airtime used on the account.

Pre-Paid Plans

Aliant also offers a pre-paid cellular plan for casual users. You may choose from either a "Nickel Nights and Weekends" or "Prepaid One Rate" plan. The nights and weekends plan offers $0.05/min after 8pm until 6am on weekdays and all day and night weekends; daytime minutes are $0.35/min. The one rate plan is $0.30/min anytime. All plans include call display, 3-way calling, voice mail, and call forwarding. Top-up cards are $10 (valid for 30 days), $25/60 days, $50/60 days, or $150/365 days (about $12.50/month). See the pre-paid comparison charts for more information.

Summary

Aliant Mobility targets their cellular products to a wide array of users from casual users with their pre-paid phones all the way up to the power user requiring 4000 min/month. Monthly packages range from $18-25 and up; Pre-paid packages are as cheap as $10/month.
